Product Specific Information
Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge if not clear after standing at room temperature. Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This affinity-purified antibody specifically recognizes the MYC epitope tag (Glu-Gln-Lys-Leu-Ile-Ser-Glu-Glu-Asp-Leu) fused to either the N- or C-terminus of target proteins in transfected or transformed cells. Useful for detection of MYC-tagged overexpressed proteins in various assays.
Target Information
Myc is a proto-oncogene encoding a nuclear phosphoprotein involved in cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and cellular transformation. It forms a heterodimer with MAX, binding the E-box DNA consensus sequence to regulate transcription. Gene amplification is common in numerous cancers, and translocations are associated with Burkitt lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Translation may initiate from both a non-AUG (CUG) and an AUG start site, producing two isoforms with distinct N-termini.
