Target Information

NAD-dependent protein deacetylase sirtuin-1 (SIRT1) links transcriptional regulation directly to intracellular energetics and coordinates multiple cellular functions such as cell cycle control, DNA damage response, metabolism, apoptosis, and autophagy.

SIRT1 modulates chromatin function through histone deacetylation and promotes changes in histone and DNA methylation, leading to transcriptional repression. It plays a crucial role in skeletal muscle differentiation and mediates inhibitory effects on myoblast differentiation in response to nutrient deprivation via AMPK and NAMPT pathways.
