Target Information
The human ASH2L gene encodes a 628 amino acid protein (ASH2L1, isoform 1) containing a nuclear localization signal and a PHD finger motif, suggesting its role as a transcription regulator.
Predicted molecular weight: 68.7 kDa (alternative isoforms at 60 kDa and 56.5 kDa).
Homology: 60% with Drosophila ash2 and 90% with mouse ASH2L.
Expression:
- Predominantly in adult heart, testis, fetal lung, and liver
- Low expression in adult lung, liver, kidney, prostate, and leukocytes
- Expressed in leukemia cell lines (K562, Hel, Dami) with erythroid and megakaryocytic potential
Differentiation inducers (e.g., phorbol ester, hemin) alter expression patterns, suggesting ASH2L’s role in hematopoiesis and leukemia.
ASH2L has also been shown to interact with β-tubulin and β-catenin.
