The human ASH2L gene encodes a 628 amino acid protein known as ASH2L1 (isoform 1), containing a nuclear localization signal and PHD finger motif, suggesting transcription regulatory function.
- Predicted molecular weight: 68.7 kDa
- Alternative isoforms: 60 kDa and 56.5 kDa
- Homology: 60% with Drosophila ash2, 90% with mouse ASH2L
- Expression: Predominantly in adult heart, testis, fetal lung, and liver; low in adult lung, liver, kidney, prostate, and leukocytes
- Functional implication: Involved in hematopoiesis and associated with certain types of leukemia
- Suggested interactions: β-tubulin and β-catenin
