This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD140a / PDGF-RA, the 170 kDa alpha chain of platelet-derived growth factor receptor. It is widely expressed on various mesenchymal-derived cells and plays pro-proliferative or anti-proliferative roles in different tumor types.
Target Information
PDGFRA is a cell surface receptor tyrosine kinase that binds members of the platelet-derived growth factor family, which are mitogens for mesenchymal-origin cells. The receptor can form homodimers or heterodimers (with PDGFRB), depending on the ligand. Knockout studies indicate PDGFRA’s essential role in kidney development, as heterozygous mice show defective renal phenotypes.
