This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD140a / PDGF-RA, the 170 kDa alpha chain of platelet-derived growth factor receptor. It is widely expressed on mesenchymal-derived cells and plays pro-proliferative or anti-proliferative roles in various tumors.
Target Information
PDGFRA is a cell surface receptor tyrosine kinase that binds members of the platelet-derived growth factor family, which are mitogens for mesenchymal-origin cells. The bound growth factor determines whether the receptor forms a homodimer or heterodimer with PDGFRB. Knockout studies show that PDGFRA is crucial for kidney development, as heterozygous mice exhibit defective kidney phenotypes.
