This peptide corresponds to a 13 amino acid sequence near the center of human IL-15.
PEP-1554 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-34511.
For use as a blocking peptide in Western blot, incubate the peptide with an equal volume of antibody for 30 minutes at 37°C.

Target Information

IL-15 (Interleukin 15) is a cytokine that regulates T and natural killer cell activation and proliferation. IL-15 and IL-2 share many biological activities, binding common hematopoietin receptor subunits and potentially competing for the same receptor, thereby regulating each other’s activity.
The balance between IL-15 and IL-2 controls the number of CD8+ memory cells. IL-15 induces activation of JAK kinases and phosphorylation of STAT3, STAT5, and STAT6. In mice, IL-15 may increase expression of apoptosis inhibitor Bcl-xL through STAT6 activation, preventing apoptosis.
IL-15 is essential for the growth and differentiation of T and B lymphocytes, natural killer cells, macrophages, and monocytes, and plays a role in intracellular signaling. It is involved in immune responses, allograft rejection, and autoimmune disease pathogenesis.
IL-15 is a pro-inflammatory cytokine implicated in disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and pulmonary inflammation. Neutralization of IL-15 has shown beneficial effects in models of psoriasis and diabetes.
