This antibody reacts with human Histone H3.2. BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with Human, Mouse, and C. elegans. Predicted to react with Rat, Chicken, Xenopus, Drosophila, and Plant based on 100% sequence homology. Cross-reactivity with Histone H3 from other sources has not been determined.

Target Information

Histones are basic nuclear proteins responsible for the nucleosome structure of the chromosomal fiber in eukaryotes. Approximately 146 bp of DNA wraps around a nucleosome composed of pairs of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4). The chromatin fiber is compacted through interaction of linker histone H1 with DNA between nucleosomes to form higher-order chromatin structures.
This gene, part of a histone cluster on chromosome 1, encodes a member of the histone H3 family. Transcripts lack polyA tails and contain a palindromic termination element. The gene is duplicated within the cluster, and this record represents the telomeric copy.
