AMPK의 비활성형 홀로엔자임은 두 개의 조절 소단위와 두 개의 촉매 소단위로 구성된 사량체입니다. cAMP는 이 비활성 홀로엔자임을 네 개의 cAMP가 결합된 조절 소단위 이합체와 두 개의 자유 촉매 소단위로 해리시킵니다. 인간에서는 네 가지 조절 소단위와 세 가지 촉매 소단위가 확인되었으며, 본 항체의 표적 단백질은 그중 하나의 조절 소단위를 암호화합니다. 이 단백질은 활성화된 촉매 소단위에 의해 인산화될 수 있으며, 다양한 A-kinase anchoring protein과 상호작용하여 AMPK의 세포 내 위치를 결정할 수 있습니다.
