Clone M033 was purified using Protein G chromatography.
This antibody detects native human recombinant CD55 protein that includes the extracellular region.
It can be used for native western blot, immunoprecipitation, protein and capture ELISA, and immunocytochemistry, as well as for detecting CD55 in live, unfixed cells.

Target Information

CD55 (decay-accelerating factor, DAF) is a GPI-anchored membrane glycoprotein that protects autologous cells from the classical and alternative pathways of the complement cascade.
Interactions between CD55 and CD97 are involved in T cell regulation, and CD55 can regulate complement when bound to CD97.
In tumors, CD55 promotes neoangiogenesis, tumorigenesis, invasiveness, and evasion of apoptosis.
CD55 is a 70 kDa glycoprotein (in erythrocytes) anchored by a glycosylphosphatidylinositol tail. In other cells, its molecular weight is slightly larger due to O-glycan content.
CD55 binds activated C4b or C3b complement fragments, preventing assembly and accelerating decay of complement pathways.
It carries Cromer-related blood group antigens. Two alternatively spliced transcripts exist: one encoding a membrane-bound protein and another encoding a soluble form at lower levels.
CD55 has been studied for its role in prostate cancer growth and survival.
