Product Specific Information
Clone M037 mouse monoclonal antibody detects a 45–60 kDa protein on SDS-PAGE native immunoblots of human A549, MeWo, MDA-MB-231, and MCF7 cells, as well as human lung tissues. This antibody weakly detects denatured CD46. It is suitable for western blot, immunoprecipitation, ELISA capture, and immunocytochemistry applications.
Target Information
CD46 (MCP, membrane cofactor protein) is a multifunctional cell surface transmembrane protein that binds and inactivates C3b and C4b complement fragments. It regulates T cell-induced inflammatory responses by either inhibiting (CD46-1 isoform) or increasing (CD46-2 isoform) contact hypersensitivity reactions. CD46 also serves as a receptor for several human pathogens (bacteria and viruses), influencing T lymphocyte polarization and immune regulation. It protects placental tissue and is expressed on the inner acrosomal membrane of spermatozoa.
