It has been successfully used in Western blot and ICC/IF procedures.
In Western blot analysis of HeLa cell cytosol, this antibody detects a ~66 kDa protein representing PKR.
The PA1-990 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues L(435) V T S L K N D G K R T R S K (449) of human PKR.
Target Information
EIF2AK2 (PKR) is one of four kinases that specifically phosphorylate Ser51 of translation initiation factor eIF2-alpha in response to various environmental stresses.
PKR plays a key role in antiviral defense mediated through its activation by double-stranded RNA produced during viral infection.
It is involved in IFN-induced innate antiviral response, virus-induced apoptosis, cell growth, and differentiation.
PKR regulates multiple pathways including NF-κB activation, p53, p38, and PDGF signaling, and has been implicated in tumor suppression and malignancy.
Viruses may inhibit PKR activity through mechanisms such as NS1 protein of influenza virus.
Recent studies link PKR to neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s, and ALS.
