Description:
The N1UG0 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed by most thymocytes, a subset of mature T-helper cells, and at low levels on monocytes. CD4 serves as a receptor for HIV. The N1UG0 antibody is suitable for staining formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded human tissue sections.

Applications Reported:
Reported for use in immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections.

Applications Tested:
Tested by immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded human tissue using low or high pH antigen retrieval at ≤20 µg/mL. Antibody titration is recommended for optimal performance.

Filter Recommendation:
For eFluor® 570 conjugate, use filters capturing 570 nm emission (e.g., Excitation 545/25, 565LP, Emission 605/70).
Standard Alexa Fluor® 555 or TRITC filters are acceptable.

Target Information

The CD4 antigen is a co-receptor for HIV and plays a key role in recognizing MHC class II molecules. It is mainly expressed in T-helper lymphocytes, and also found on monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4 expression is observed in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and various non-lymphoid tissues. It contributes to early T-cell activation via association with the T-cell receptor and Lck kinase. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
