Product Specific Information

The OKT3 monoclonal antibody recognizes an epitope on the epsilon-subunit within the human CD3 complex. It has potent immunosuppressive properties in vivo and has been effective in treating renal, heart, and liver allograft rejection.

CD3 subunits (gamma, delta, epsilon) are essential for TCR complex assembly, trafficking, and surface expression. CD3 is expressed by thymocytes and mature T cells. Crosslinking of TCR triggers intracellular signaling leading to activation and proliferation.

• Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometry of normal human peripheral blood cells
• Recommended Use: 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test in 100 µL final volume
• Excitation/Emission: 405 nm / 436 nm (Violet laser)
• Recommended Filter: 450/50 bandpass or equivalent

Target Information

The CD3 complex transduces antigen-recognition signals into T cells and regulates TCR expression. It includes CD3 gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta subunits, all members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded on chromosome 11.

• CD3 is expressed on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes and 65–85% of thymocytes.
• It is absent on B or NK cells.
• Defects in CD3 genes are associated with CD3 immunodeficiency.
• Plays roles in TCR-induced growth arrest, survival, and proliferation.
