Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, it is recommended to perform an additional desalting step (e.g., Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).


Target Information

BCL-2 is a key regulator of apoptosis, functioning to either inhibit or promote cell death. Members of the BCL-2 family can dimerize to modulate apoptosis. For example, Bag1 forms a heterodimer with BCL-2, enhancing its anti-apoptotic effect. Bax and Bak play critical roles in cytochrome c release from mitochondria, initiating apoptosis.
Constitutive expression of BCL2, such as through translocation to the Ig heavy chain locus, is associated with follicular lymphoma. In most follicular lymphomas, neoplastic germinal centers express high levels of BCL-2 alpha protein, whereas normal or hyperplastic germinal centers are negative.
Two transcript variants of BCL-2, produced by alternative splicing, differ at their C-terminal ends. Overexpression of BCL-2 has been linked to cancers such as B-cell lymphoma and prostate cancer.
