FGFBP1 encodes a secreted fibroblast growth factor carrier protein that plays a crucial role in cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration by binding to fibroblast growth factors and enhancing their biological effects.

A pseudogene of FGFBP1 is located on the short arm of chromosome 4.
