The Human Gene 2.1 ST 16-Array Plate and Trays provide accurate, sensitive, and comprehensive measurement of protein-coding and long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) transcripts.
Comprehensive Design
To match the research community’s understanding of the transcriptome, these whole-transcript arrays include probes for both messenger RNA (mRNA) and long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA). This design enables a complete expression profile of mRNA and intermediary lincRNA transcripts that influence mRNA expression.
Research Background
Over the past two decades, research has focused on protein-coding mRNA and its role in cellular processes such as disease and development. Recently, more than 10,000 transcripts (>200 bases) with little or no protein-coding potential have been identified. Although few of these non-coding RNAs have functional annotations, evidence shows that differential expression of lincRNAs plays a key role in disease progression and cancer.
Advancements in transcriptome profiling have revealed lincRNAs’ involvement in diverse cellular functions:
- Regulation of mRNA transcription
- Regulation of mRNA post-transcriptional modifications
- Occlusion or recruitment of transcription factor binding
- Activation and transport of transcription factors
