Product Specific Information
- Store vial at -20°C prior to opening.
- Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage.
- Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing.
- Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
- Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid.
- Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This antiserum is directed against human p42 MAP Kinase (ERK2) protein and is useful for detecting its presence by immunoblotting.
No reactivity is observed against p44 MAP Kinase (ERK1).
Cross-reactivity is expected with p44 MAP Kinase (ERK1) proteins from human and mouse sources.
Reactivity to rat tissues is also anticipated due to high sequence homology.
Reactivity against homologues from other sources is not known.
Target Information
MAPK1 (ERK2) is a serine/threonine kinase that acts as an important activator of p90 RSK, MSK, ELK1, and Stat3, and is involved in the MAPK pathway.
MAP kinases, also known as extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERKs), serve as integration points for multiple biochemical signals and are involved in cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, transcription regulation, and development.
Activation of this kinase requires phosphorylation by upstream kinases. Upon activation, it translocates to the nucleus, where it phosphorylates nuclear targets.
