Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-κB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene and located on chromosome 11 in humans. Also known as RelA, it belongs to the Rel family of proteins and forms one of the two subunits of NF-κB, which heterodimerizes with p50 or p52.
Upon TNF-alpha receptor activation, IKK phosphorylates IκB, leading to its proteasomal degradation and subsequent NF-κB activation. NF-κB p65 plays a key role in transcriptional regulation, including activation of the immunoglobulin kappa gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
