Reconstitution: Add 25 µL, 50 µL, or 0.2 mL of double distilled water (DDW), depending on sample size.
The antibody ships as a lyophilized powder at room temperature. Upon arrival, store at -20°C.
The reconstituted solution can be stored at 4°C, protected from light, for up to 1 week.
For longer storage, aliquot and freeze at -20°C. Avoid multiple freeze/thaw cycles.
Centrifuge all antibody preparations before use (10,000 × g, 5 min).

Target Information

Excitatory amino acid transporter 2 (EAAT2) is a member of a family of solute transporter proteins.
This membrane-bound protein is the principal transporter that clears the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate from the extracellular space at synapses in the central nervous system.
Glutamate clearance is essential for proper synaptic activation and to prevent neuronal damage from excessive activation of glutamate receptors.
Mutations and decreased expression of this protein are associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been identified.
