Product Specific Information

This target has a predicted molecular weight of 25 kDa.

Target Information

Podoplanin (PDPN, T1A, gp38, Aggrus) is a mucin-type 1 glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 40–43 kDa.
It is expressed in various tumors and normal cells, particularly lymphatic epithelial cells and follicular dendritic cells.
Podoplanin localizes in stromal cells of peripheral lymphoid tissues and thymic epithelial cells.

As a regulator of the lymphatic endothelium, podoplanin likely contributes to maintaining the unique shape of podocytes.
It serves as a ligand for CLEC-2, and its expression correlates with tumor invasiveness and metastatic potential.
Podoplanin participates in cell migration, metastasis formation, and tumor invasion.
Its expression can be induced through Src activation of Cas and has been observed on Th17 cells.
Studies indicate its presence in a distinct population of CD4+ cells from human PBMC.
Dysfunction of podoplanin is associated with diseases such as lymphangioma and subglottic neoplasm.
Additionally, it has been proposed as a marker for lung injury due to its physiological role.
