Product Specific Information
The PA1-73012 antibody reacts with Streptococcus pneumoniae.
It has been successfully used in ELISA, immunohistochemistry, and western blot applications.
The antibody was raised against a Streptococcus serotype whole-cell blend (types 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 14, 18, 19 & 23).
Target Information
There are more than 85 antigenic types of S. pneumoniae, determined by capsule antigens. Although S. pneumoniae is part of the normal respiratory flora, invasion can cause pneumonia and meningitis. The polysaccharide capsule protects it from phagocytosis and serves as a key virulence factor. Infections are typically treatable with antibiotics, though resistant strains are emerging.
