Target Information
CACNA2D4 is a member of the alpha-2/delta subunit family, which is part of the voltage-dependent calcium channel complex. These channels mediate calcium ion influx upon membrane polarization and consist of alpha-1, alpha-2/delta, beta, and gamma subunits in a 1:1:1:1 ratio. Different isoforms arise from gene variants or alternative splicing. Studies in rabbits suggest the protein is cleaved into alpha-2 and delta subunits. Alternate splice variants have been observed but not fully characterized.
