Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains and play diverse roles in transcriptional activation or repression.
ZSCAN22 (also known as HKR2 or ZNF50) is a 491 amino acid nuclear protein belonging to the Krueppel C2H2-type zinc-finger family.
It contains eight C2H2-type zinc fingers and one SCAN box domain, and may be involved in transcriptional regulation.
ZSCAN22 becomes phosphorylated upon DNA damage.
