Specificity: This antibody is specific for murine galectin-9, a 40 kDa S-type lectin expressed by various cell types including lymphocytes, thymocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, astrocytes, mast cells, eosinophils, fibroblasts, epithelial cells, and endothelial cells.

Target Information

The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins involved in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. The protein encoded by this gene is an S-type lectin, overexpressed in Hodgkin’s disease tissue, and may participate in interactions between H and RS cells and their surrounding cells, possibly contributing to disease pathogenesis and/or associated immunodeficiency. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified for this gene.
