Product Specific Information
This antibody is specific for murine TIM-2, a transmembrane protein expressed on activated T cells and preferentially on differentiated Th2 cells. Blocking TIM-2/TIM-2 ligand interaction results in T cell hyperproliferation and Th2 cytokine production. TIM-2 plays a critical role in the development of atopic disease and other Th2-biased immune responses.
Target Information
TIM-2 (T-cell immunoglobulin mucin 2) is a transmembrane glycoprotein and member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is expressed by activated lymphocytes, developmentally in the 8-cell embryo and blastocyst, and preferentially up-regulated in Th2 cells while down-regulated in Th1 cells. TIM-2 acts as a negative regulator of Th2 cells and is implicated in the development of atopic disease and other Th2-biased immune responses. It also serves as a receptor for Semaphorin 4A, a transmembrane protein expressed on dendritic cells and B cells, involved in axonal guidance and enhancement of T cell activation.
