Target Information
MAPK13 (p38 delta) is a serine/threonine kinase that transduces various extracellular signals, including cytokine and environmental stress responses. It regulates keratinocyte differentiation and is activated by environmental stresses and proinflammatory cytokines. Activation occurs via phosphorylation by MAP kinase kinases or autophosphorylation induced by interaction with MAP3K7IP1/TAB1. Substrates include transcription regulators (ATF2, MEF2C, MAX), cell cycle regulator (CDC25B), and tumor suppressor (p53), suggesting roles in stress-related transcription, cell cycle regulation, and genotoxic stress response. Four alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct SAPK4 isoforms have been reported.
