Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes the B epitope of the mouse Lyt-3 (CD8) antigen. It has been used for CD8 subset depletion in vivo and in flow cytometry studies.
Target Information
The CD8B antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes, mediating efficient cell-cell interactions within the immune system. Acting as a coreceptor, the CD8 antigen and the T-cell receptor recognize antigens displayed by antigen-presenting cells (APCs) in the context of class I MHC molecules. The functional coreceptor can be either a homodimer (two alpha chains) or a heterodimer (one alpha and one beta chain). Both chains share significant homology with immunoglobulin variable light chains. This gene encodes CD8 beta chain isoforms, with multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct membrane-associated or secreted isoforms. A pseudogene located on chromosome 2 has also been identified.
