Product Specific Information

This antibody is specific for murine CTLA-4, an inhibitory receptor that acts as the primary negative regulator of T-cell responses. CTLA-4 is expressed predominantly by activated T cells, with significantly higher levels of expression on CD8+ T cells than CD4+ T cells.


Target Information

CTLA4 (Cytotoxic T-Lymphocyte Antigen 4) is a CD28-family receptor expressed mainly on CD4+ T cells. It binds the same ligands as CD28 (CD80 and CD86 on B cells and dendritic cells) but with higher affinity. Unlike CD28, which enhances T-cell activation, CTLA4 inhibits T-cell function. Intracellular CTLA4 is also found in regulatory T cells and may play an important role in their suppressive function.
