DERL2는 잘못 접힌 내강 당단백질의 소포체 관련 분해(ERAD)에 관여하는 기능적 구성 요소입니다. 잘못 접힌 당단백질의 세포질로의 역전이를 매개하여 유비퀴틴화 및 프로테아좀에 의한 분해를 유도할 수 있습니다. VCP 및 분해 기질 간 상호작용을 매개할 가능성이 있으며, 세포 증식에도 관여할 수 있습니다.
DERL1과 달리, CMV 감염 후 MHC class I heavy chain의 분해에는 관여하지 않습니다.
