Target Information
CPA6 (Carboxypeptidase A6) is a member of the M14 metallocarboxypeptidase protein family, functioning as a zinc-binding enzyme that cleaves large C-terminal hydrophobic residues from proteins. It is expressed broadly in embryonic tissues and highly in adult olfactory bulb and epididymis. CPA6 plays a role in extracellular neuropeptide processing. Mutations in CPA6 are associated with Duane syndrome, a congenital eye-movement disorder involving cranial nerve VI. Three isoforms exist due to alternative splicing.
