Target Information

The CD82 metastasis suppressor gene product is a membrane glycoprotein belonging to the transmembrane 4 superfamily. Expression of this gene is downregulated during tumor progression in human cancers and can be activated by p53 through a consensus binding sequence in the promoter region. Expression of CD82 and p53 are strongly correlated, and loss of both proteins is associated with poor survival in prostate cancer patients. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
