PHYHD1 (phytanoyl-CoA dioxygenase domain containing 1)는 291 아미노산으로 구성된 단백질로 PHYH 패밀리 및 PHYHD1 서브패밀리에 속합니다. 인간 염색체 9q34.11에 위치한 유전자에 의해 암호화되며, 세 가지 대체 스플라이싱 이소폼으로 존재합니다.
이 단백질은 α-케토글루타르산 의존성 디옥시게나아제로 작용하며, 금속 이온 결합 및 산화환원 효소 활성을 통해 산소 원자 두 개를 기질에 도입하는 반응에 관여합니다. PHYHD1은 PHYH (phytanoyl-CoA 2-hydroxylase)와 유사하게 페르옥시좀 내 phytenic acid의 α-산화 단계에 관여하며, 다양한 동물 및 세균 종에서 상동 단백질이 발견됩니다. 또한 초기 간 발달 및 포유류 분화 과정에서 DNA 메틸화에 관여할 가능성이 있습니다.
