SMARCA5는 SWI/SNF 단백질 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, helicase 및 ATPase 활성을 가지며 염색질 구조를 조절하여 특정 유전자의 전사를 조절하는 역할을 합니다.
이 단백질은 RSF(chromatin remodeling and spacing factor)의 구성 요소로, RNA polymerase II에 의해 전사되는 class II 유전자의 전사를 촉진합니다.
