Target Information
CD13 (ANPEP) is a 150–170 kDa type II transmembrane zinc-binding ectopeptidase expressed on various cell types. It catalyzes the removal of neutral amino acids from small peptides, thereby activating or inactivating bioactive peptides. CD13 also contributes to extracellular matrix degradation, antigen processing, and signal transduction. It plays important roles in inflammatory responses, intercellular contact regulation, cell motility, and vascularization. CD13 is expressed by granulocytes, monocytes, and myeloid leukemia cells, and its expression correlates with poor prognosis in carcinomas. Additionally, CD13 functions as an aminopeptidase enzyme and serves as an alpha receptor for coronavirus.
