Target Information

PAX 유전자군은 배아 발생 초기 특정 조직에서 활성을 가지는 전사 인자(transcription factor)로 구성되어 있습니다. 이들은 paired box에 의해 인코딩된 DNA 결합 도메인을 포함하며, 유전 프로그램을 수행할 수 있습니다.
PAX2는 신장 발달 과정에서 발현되며, 특히 응축된 metanephric mesenchyme 및 초기 상피 구조에서 발현됩니다. 성숙한 신장 상피에서는 PAX2 발현이 급격히 감소하지만, 윌름스 종양(Wilms' tumor)에서는 미분화 상피세포에서 지속적으로 발현되어 세포 증식과 관련이 있습니다.
WT1 단백질 발현은 PAX2의 하향 조절과 일치하며, WT1이 PAX2 전사를 직접 억제할 수 있음을 시사합니다.
