Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Prohibitin is encoded by an evolutionarily conserved gene expressed ubiquitously. It functions as a negative regulator of cell proliferation and may act as a tumor suppressor. Mutations in PHB have been associated with sporadic breast cancer. Two transcripts with varying 3' untranslated regions are expressed; the longer transcript is more abundant in proliferating tissues, suggesting a regulatory role as a trans-acting RNA.
