Target Information
STAT2 belongs to the STAT protein family. Upon cytokine or growth factor stimulation, STAT proteins are phosphorylated by receptor-associated kinases, forming homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the nucleus and act as transcription activators.
In response to interferon (IFN), STAT2 forms a complex with STAT1 and p48 (ISGF3G), functioning as a transactivator without direct DNA-binding ability. STAT2 interacts with transcription adaptor P300/CBP (EP300/CREBBP), potentially contributing to adenovirus-mediated inhibition of IFN-alpha response.
