Product Specific Information
MA5-17029 targets ALDH2 in FACS, ICC, IHC, IF, and WB applications and shows reactivity with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples.
The immunogen is a purified recombinant fragment of human ALDH2 (amino acids 317–517) expressed in E. coli.
MA5-17029 detects ALDH2, which has a predicted molecular weight of approximately 56.3 kDa.
Target Information
ALDH2 belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenase family of proteins. Aldehyde dehydrogenase is the second enzyme of the major oxidative pathway of alcohol metabolism. Two major liver isoforms of this enzyme, cytosolic and mitochondrial, can be distinguished by their electrophoretic mobilities, kinetic properties, and subcellular localizations.
Most Caucasians have two major isozymes, while approximately 50% of Asians have only the cytosolic isozyme, missing the mitochondrial isozyme. This difference may relate to the higher frequency of acute alcohol intoxication among Asians compared to Caucasians.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
