Product Specific Information
- A 1:100 dilution of MA5-45729 was sufficient for detection of Ankyrin R in 20 µg of mouse brain lysate by ECL immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
- Detects approximately 200 kDa.
- Does not cross-react with Ankyrin-B or Ankyrin-G.
- This antibody was formerly sold as clone S388A-10.
Target Information
Ankyrins are a family of proteins that link integral membrane proteins to the spectrin-actin cytoskeleton, playing key roles in cell motility, activation, proliferation, and maintenance of specialized membrane domains. Multiple isoforms are expressed in a tissue-specific, developmentally regulated manner. Ankyrin 1, the prototype, was first discovered in erythrocytes and is also found in brain and muscle. Mutations in erythrocytic ankyrin 1 are associated with hereditary spherocytosis. Alternative splicing in the regulatory domain leads to diverse isoforms, including truncated muscle-specific forms.
