Target Information

CHEK1 (CHK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that prevents replication when DNA integrity is compromised. It acts as a key mediator in the DNA damage-induced checkpoint network and maintains genomic integrity under genotoxic stress.
Inhibition of CHK1 can lead to mitotic catastrophe and apoptosis in p53-deficient cancer cells, while normal cells remain arrested in G1 phase.
Thus, CHK1 represents an attractive therapeutic target for cancer treatment, particularly in p53-deficient tumors.
