Product Specific Information
PA1-9517 detects Opsin in mouse, rat, zebra finch, and tiger samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot procedures, detecting a 44 kDa protein representing Opsin.
The immunogen is a synthetic peptide based on the mouse opsin1 protein.
Target Information
Visual pigments are light-absorbing molecules that mediate vision.
They consist of an apoprotein (opsin) covalently linked to cis-retinal (Abs max = 530 nm).
The three color pigments are found in cone photoreceptor cells.
Opsin is phosphorylated on serine and threonine residues in the C-terminal region.
Defects in OPN1MW cause partial colorblindness (deuteranopia, deutan series).
