Product Specific Information
This antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
IL17C is a cytokine that plays a crucial role in the innate immunity of epithelial tissues, particularly against intestinal bacterial pathogens. It acts autocrinely to stimulate the production of antibacterial peptides and proinflammatory molecules via NF-κB and MAPK pathways. IL17C acts synergistically with IL22, TNF, and IL1B to enhance the expression of antimicrobial peptides such as S100A8, S100A9, REG3A, REG3G, and DEFB2. Depending on the context, IL17C signaling can be protective or pathogenic, contributing to epithelial homeostasis or promoting inflammation. Enhanced IL17C/IL17RE signaling may increase susceptibility to autoimmune diseases.
