Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Dystrophin.
Target Information
Dystrophin is the 427 kDa protein product of the DMD/BMD gene located on the X chromosome at position Xp21.
Western blotting and immunohistochemistry are established methods for detecting abnormalities in dystrophin expression in muscle biopsies.
Dystrophin abnormalities are present in nearly all DMD/BMD patients, though genetic abnormalities may be detected in only up to 65% of cases.
