The 23C6 monoclonal antibody reacts with the human CD51/CD61 dimer, also known as integrin αv/β3.
CD51 (~120 kDa) can associate with other β subunits (β1, β5, β6) forming receptors for extracellular matrix components.
CD51/CD61 heterodimers are expressed by melanoma cells, endothelial cells, and osteoclasts, and weakly by platelets.
This complex mediates adhesion to fibrinogen, fibronectin, vitronectin, and thrombospondin.

- Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
- Tested by flow cytometric analysis of peripheral blood cells.
- Recommended ≤ 1 µg per test (100 µL final volume).
- Optimal concentration should be titrated empirically (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).
Target Information
CD51 and CD61 (integrin αv and β3) form a complex that binds vitronectin (RGD sequence) and also interacts with fibrinogen, von Willebrand factor, thrombospondin, fibronectin, osteopontin, and collagen.
Reacts with osteoclasts, placenta, melanoma cell lines, and weakly with platelets.
