Target Information

AXL is a chronic myelogenous leukemia-associated oncogene also linked to colon cancer and melanoma.
The AXL protein is a receptor tyrosine kinase that transduces signals from the extracellular matrix into the cytoplasm by binding growth factors like GAS6, stimulating cell proliferation.
TAM receptors are involved in phagocytosis of apoptotic cells.
Mice lacking all three TAM receptors exhibit degenerative and autoimmune phenotypes similar to systemic lupus erythematosus.
Axl may also act as a receptor for filoviruses and mark Siglec 6+/Axl+ dendritic cells.
Its expression can be upregulated by TLR ligands (LPS, poly I:C), and soluble Axl levels may indicate inflammation or cancer.
