Product Specific Information
For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
Vimentin is a developmentally regulated intermediate filament protein (IFP) found in cells of mesenchymal origin.
It plays a role in intracellular protein transport between the nucleus and plasma membrane.
During early cellular development, vimentin is co-expressed with desmin and later replaced by tissue-specific IFPs.
Vimentin is implicated in steroid synthesis regulation by serving as a storage network for cholesterol-containing lipid droplets.
Phosphorylation of vimentin by protein kinase leads to filament breakdown and cytoskeletal rearrangement, facilitating cholesterol transport to mitochondria and enhancing steroid synthesis.
