- Detects endogenous alpha catenin protein at approximately 100 kDa.

Target Information
Alpha catenin is a member of the β-catenin family of cytosolic proteins. It interacts with N-cadherin and β-catenin on the cytosolic side of adherens junctions to mediate the interaction with the actin cytoskeleton.
In solution, alpha catenin exists as a homodimer but dissociates to form a 1:1 heterodimer with β-catenin to interact with cadherins.
It plays a role in regulating synaptic morphological plasticity and cerebellar and hippocampal lamination during development, as well as in the control of startle modulation.
