Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes the ovine CD1 cell surface antigen. CD1 is primarily expressed in cortical thymocytes and dendritic cells in the dermis, afferent lymph, lymph node, spleen, and thymus.
Target Information
The CD1 family consists of transmembrane glycoproteins structurally related to MHC proteins, forming heterodimers with beta-2-microglobulin. CD1 proteins mediate the presentation of lipid and glycolipid antigens of self or microbial origin to T cells.
The human genome contains five CD1 family genes organized in a cluster on chromosome 1. These family members differ in cellular localization and ligand specificity. The encoded protein localizes to the plasma membrane and recycling vesicles of the early endocytic system. Multiple transcript variants are produced by alternative splicing.
