This antibody binds the amino acid residues between 11–19 of the N protein of the SARS-CoV as well as SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) nucleocapsid protein.
Target Information
Human coronaviruses are the major cause of upper respiratory tract illness such as the common cold. They are positive-stranded RNA viruses with large genomes (27–31 kb). The viral spike protein (139 kDa) binds host cell receptors and serves as the main surface antigen. The 46 kDa nucleocapsid protein is the most prominent protein in SARS virus culture supernatants and acts as a major immunogen, useful for early diagnostics. SARS-CoV-2 Nucleocapsid Protein is associated with nucleic acid and is the most abundant coronavirus protein. Due to its strong immunogenicity, it has potential diagnostic value.
